Maya 8.5 Unlimited from Autodesk is a powerful 3D graphics creation software suite that runs on Macintosh, Windows and Linux-based systems. Maya is the industry-standard application for creating graphics for feature films, broadcast video, print and web multimedia and design visualization. The software provides tools for 3D modeling, animation and rendering, allowing 3D artists to work within an integrated workflow. Maya is an excellent choice to address your needs for 3D graphics creation.

Maya Unlimited features advanced tools including the Maya Nucleus Unified Simulation Framework, Maya nCloth and Maya Hair, giving you the tools you need to create amazing digital characters and scenes.

Key Features

Nucleus Unified Simulation Framework

The software includes the Maya Nucleus unified simulation framework. This is a linked particle system that is able to simulate a large swath of dynamic entities. It works with various geometry types, including curves, nonmanifold geometry and meshes with wholes; all within a unified framework.

nCloth

The nCloth module gives you direct control over cloth and other material simulations. Objects can be stiff, viscous or flowing. You'll even be able control how tightly woven they are. You'll have the ability to create cloth-on-cloth simulations with realistic influences and collisions. nCloth lets you easily bend, stretch, shear, dent and tear fabrics.

Python Scripting Language

The Python scripting language is fully integrated at the same level as the Maya Embedded Language. Python modules can be imported into a separate interpreter for batch processor. The language supports higher-level language constructs, allowing developers to increase productivity while at the same time maintaining code. The language is highly extensible, allowing for full interactivity with third-party modules and tools.

Expanded Platform Support

Maya can run on 32-bit versions of Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. It is also compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows and Linux. The Mac version of the software is a Universal Binary, allowing it to run natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs.

mental ray Shaders and Workflow

The software features a workflow and shaders by mental ray. This allows you to render photorealistic skies based on the position of the sun. You'll also find architectural and design shaders that can create effects such as waxy floors, frosted glass, clay and sand-blasted metals. This is all housed in an organized interface that allows you to customize render attributes. A batch render interface is available that can dynamically render items for optimal output.

Transfer Polygon Attributes

Maya supports the transfer of polygon attributes between polygon meshes of differing topologies. These attributes include UV, color per vertex and vertex position. This feature allows you to transfer existing UV sets between a low-resolution and high-resolution model. You can even use the PaintEffects to blend between source and target deformations.

Comprehensive Tutorials

Complex software is only as good as its documentation and Maya doesn't fall short in that department. You can access free tutorials and discussion forums online. Maya also provides comprehensive documentation and tutorials from within the program.
